1 La carrera de Tony comenzó a finales de los 80, ¿qué diferencia encuentras entre la escena metalera de esa época y la actual?
R: ¡Vaya, esa es una gran pregunta para empezar! Creo que la escena del metal en los 80 era un género más estrecho y, a su manera, era un poco más mainstream. Ahora mismo tenemos tantas variaciones
con cosas como Death Metal, Black Metal, etc., que es difícil para mí estar al día de todo lo que está pasando.
2 ¿Logramos apreciar desde tus inicios un legado que has ido dejando a la música
a lo largo del tiempo, influyendo en varias generaciones con tu música, crees que es así o
crees que la música solo pasa y no marca a esas generaciones?
R: Estas son grandes preguntas. Creo que, como cualquier artista, esperamos que nuestra música deje una huella para las generaciones actuales y futuras. Maiden, sin duda, no solo inspiró a un número incalculable de bandas a formarse, sino que dejará su huella en el mundo para muchas generaciones por venir. Espero que AWAKE eventualmente se convierta en una experiencia grabada y en vivo que haga que las personas realmente sientan algo cuando lo experimentan, y que continúe mucho después de que haya dejado este planeta para significar algo para las personas.
3 ¿Posees más de 5 producciones entre otros álbumes? ¿Puedes contarnos cómo fue la
experiencia grabando este disco?, te pregunto esto porque hemos podido ver que has
pasado por varios sellos discográficos, ¿cómo gestionas esa parte del negocio, que suele ser
bastante importante para una banda profesional como la tuya?
R: Entonces, soy un artista independiente, aparte de toda la increíble ayuda y apoyo que Steve Harris me ha dado, he hecho todo lo demás yo mismo: escribí, interpreté, grabé, mezclé y produje AWAKE
con mi amigo Tommy Harden en la batería. Está editado por mi propio sello (vía Absolute/Universal) y
me ocupo de todos los aspectos de mi carrera por mi cuenta (y con mi increíble PA Rania Watts)- Es un trabajo duro y necesito ampliar mi equipo para ayudarme a hacer más, pero soy muy práctico en todos los aspectos y lo disfruto.
4 Con una trayectoria tan extensa, ¿nos puedes dar una breve opinión de cómo ha
cambiado la escena metalera en Europa y cómo te ha afectado o beneficiado teniendo en cuenta la tecnología, las redes y todo lo que tiene que ver con la difusión?
R: Realmente no puedo hablar de la escena metalera actual, no es algo en lo que esté muy involucrado. Sin embargo, soy muy nerd y tecnológico en lo que respecta a la tecnología, y no puedo imaginar haber podido hacer AWAKE sin acceso a una gran tecnología y computadoras, etc. También hago todos mis propios videos. Además, las redes sociales e Internet en su conjunto me dan muchas más oportunidades de hacer llegar mi música a más personas.
5 A lo largo de tu carrera has podido compartir con una gran cantidad de músicos desde sus
inicios, ¿consideras que cada uno de estos músicos con los que has compartido ha dejado de
alguna manera su huella o influencia en el sonido actual de tus producciones?
R: Sí, todas las personas con las que he trabajado, disfrutado escuchando y he tenido la oportunidad de montar en escenarios de todo el mundo me han impactado creativamente de diferentes maneras. La mayor parte de AWAKE está inspirada en la música que escuchaba cuando era niño. Early Genesis, Alice Cooper, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, David Bowie, los Beatles, etc.
6 ¿Cómo ves la escena mundial del rock y el metal y cuál crees que puede ser su proyección para
el futuro?
R: Fui parte de la última gira de Iron Maiden y pude verlos en vivo en casi todos los shows, y por lo que
puedo ver, ahora son más grandes que nunca. Creo que las bandas que están haciendo
música memorable y “clásica” continuarán siendo una parte esencial de nuestro futuro.
7 Hablemos de AWAKE ese gran álbum en 2021 en medio de la pandemia, sabemos que es
una producción conceptual y estás lanzando el sencillo Remember Me en el que se ha
convertido este álbum para tu carrera.
R: Crear AWAKE fue uno de los periodos más profundos de mi vida, y conseguí, durante la
locura de la pandemia, tener un lugar donde enfocar todos mis pensamientos, miedos, sueños e ideas musicales y convertirlos en un álbum que reflejara esos días. Escribí y grabé todo en el
cobertizo en el fondo del jardín de mi madre, al mismo tiempo que cuidaba de mi madre, que había desarrollado demencia. Incluso The Shed tiene un papel muy destacado en AWAKE, que la gente descubre cuando me ven interpretarlo en directo.
8 Háblanos del directo de este disco que ha aportado muy buenas referencias y experiencias
al público que ha podido disfrutarlo en directo.
R: Incluso cuando estaba haciendo el álbum sabía que tenía que ser un concierto muy especial. A medida que terminaba cada canción, creaba el video que la acompañaría, usando una mezcla de imágenes de dominio público, imágenes que yo mismo creé e incluso algunas imágenes fractales muy inteligentes que mi amiga Teja Love creó para mí en Eslovenia. “Probé” cada canción en vivo en línea en mis transmisiones de música de bloqueo en Facebook usando pantalla verde para tener los videos visibles detrás de mí. De esa manera podía asegurarme de que todo funcionara. Pasé abril/mayo de 2021 ensayando y refinando el espectáculo en The Bedford en Balham antes de hacer el primer espectáculo en vivo el 18 de mayo de 2021. Me encanta hacer este espectáculo en vivo y estoy muy conmovido de que el público de todo el mundo se haya conmovido e inspirado con él.
9 ¿Cómo fue tu experiencia con British Lion y podrás hacer una gira con ellos y tu amigo
y viejo conocido Steve Harris?
R: Me encanta British Lion y ha sido maravilloso trabajar con ellos. Todos nos hemos hecho grandes amigos y viajamos juntos. En la gira comparto habitación con David Hawkins de la banda. Haremos una
gira europea en agosto de 2025 que estoy deseando que llegue.
10 Steve dijo textualmente en una entrevista con Classic Rock Magazine: “Si Tony hubiera tocado la guitarra en ese entonces como lo hace ahora, probablemente todavía estaría en la banda”. ¿Qué te parece?
R: Estoy muy conmovido por su fe y por creer en mí. Eso es algo increíblemente poderoso de decir y trato de estar a la altura de sus palabras en cada show que hago. Yo era, por supuesto, el tecladista de Maiden en 1977, así que el hecho de que Steve haya dicho esas palabras sobre mi forma de tocar la guitarra demuestra lo mucho que he avanzado a lo largo de los años.
11 ¿Qué le depara el futuro cercano a Tony Moore que tiene en proyecto?
R: AWAKE todavía no es muy conocido en todo el mundo, así que tengo la misión de hacer una gira, lanzar más singles y hacer todo lo posible para llevar AWAKE a tanta gente como pueda.
12 ¿Lo tendremos pronto en Sudamérica y en Argentina, hay mucha gente esperándolo
en esta parte del mundo?
R: Me sentí muy honrado de tocar El Teatrito con British Lion el año pasado y tuve el mejor concierto de la gira. El público argentino es increíble y fue una noche memorable para mí. Me encanta Argentina, mi ex novia es de Bs. Aprendí a hablar español en Argentina. Vine muchas veces en la década de
1990 y a menudo iba a acampar en Villa Gesell. No puedo esperar para volver y jugar de nuevo.

It’s my pleasure to answer your questions
1 Tony’s career began in the late 80s, what difference do you find between the metal scene of that
time and the current one?
Wow, that’s quite a question to start with ! I think the Metal Scene back in the 80’s was a narrower
genre and, in its own way, it was a little more mainstream. Right now we have so many variations
with things like Death Metal, Black Metal and so on it’s hard for me to stay up to date with
everything that is happening !
2 Do we manage to appreciate from your beginnings a legacy that you have been leaving to music
over time, influencing several generations with your music, do you think that is the case or do you
think that music only passes and does not mark those generations?
These are great questions. I think, like any artist, we hope that our music leaves a mark behind for
current and future generations. Maiden, without doubt, not only inspired untold numbers of bands
to form but will leave their mark on the world for many generations yet to come. I hope that AWAKE
will eventually grow into both a recorded and live experience that makes people truly feel
something when they experience it, and that it will continue long after I have left this planet to mean
something to people
5 Do you own more than 5 productions between other albums. Can you tell us how was the
experience recording this album, I ask you this because we have been able to see that you have
gone through several record labels, how do you manage that part of the business, which is usually
quite important for a professional band like yours?
So, I am an independent artist, aside from all the amazing help and support Steve Harris has given
me, I have done everything else myself – I wrote, performed, recorded, mixed and produced AWAKE
with my friend Tommy Harden on drums. It’s released on my own label (via Absolute/Universal) and
I look after all aspects of my career on my own (and with my incredible PA Rania Watts)- It’s hard
work and I need to expand my team to help me do more, but I am very hands on in all aspects and I
do enjoy that.
6 With such an extensive career, can you give us a brief opinion of how the metal scene has
changed in Europe and how it has affected or benefited you taking into account technology,
networks and everything that has to do with dissemination?
I can’t really talk about the current Metal scene, it’s not something I am very involved in. However I
am very nerdy and techy when it comes to technology and I can’t imagine being able to have made
AWAKE without access to great tech and computers etc. I make all my own videos as well. Plus,
social media and the Internet as a whole, give me far more opportunities to get my music to more
people.
7 Throughout your career have you been able to share with a large number of musicians since its
beginnings, do you consider that each of these musicians with whom you have shared has left in
some way their mark or influence on the current sound of your productions?
Yes, everyone I have worked with, enjoyed listening to and had the opportunity to put on stages
around the world have all impacted on me creatively in different ways. Most of AWAKE is inspired
by the music I was listening to when I was growing up. Early Genesis, Alice Cooper, Jethro Tull,
Pink Floyd, David Bowie, the Beatles etc
8 How do you see the world rock and metal scene and what do you think its projection can be for
the future?
I was part of the last Iron Maiden tour and got to see them live almost every show, and as far as I
can see, they are bigger now than they have ever been. I believe the bands that are making
memorable and “classic” music will continue to an essential part of our future.
9 Let’s talk about AWAKE that great album in 2021 in the middle of the pandemic, we know that it is
a conceptual production and you are releasing the single Remember Me that this album has
become for your career.
Creating AWAKE was one of the most profound periods of my life, and I managed, during the
madness of the pandemic, to have a place to focus all my thoughts, fears, dreams and musical
ideas and turn them into an album that reflected those days. I wrote and recorded everything in the
Shed at the bottom of my Mum’s garden whilst also being the carer for my Mum who had developed
Dementia. Even the Shed has a very prominent role in AWAKE which people find out when they see
me perform it live.
10 Tell us about the live show of this album that has brought very good references and experiences
to the public who have been able to enjoy it live.
Even when I was making the album I knew that it had to be a very special show. As I finished each
song I was creating the video that would accompany it, using a mixture of public domain footage,
footage I created myself and even some very clever fractal images that my friend Teja Love created
for me in Slovenia. I “trialled” each song live on line in my lock down music streams on facebook
by using green screen to have the videos visible behind me. That way I could make sure everything
worked. I spent April/May of 2021 rehearsing and refining the show at The Bedford in Balham before
doing the first live show on May 18th 2021. I love doing this show live and I am very touched that
audiences all over the world have been moved and inspired by it.
11 How was your experience with British Lion and you will be able to tour with them and your friend
and old acquaintance Steve Harris.
I love British Lion and they have been wonderful to work with. We have all become great friends
and travel together. On tour I share a room with David Hawkins from the band. We will be doing a
European tour in August 2025 which I am really looking forward to.
12 Steve said in an interview with Classic Rock Magazine verbatim: “If Tony had played guitar back
then like he does now, he’d probably still be in the band.” What do you think of it?
I am very moved by his faith and belief in me. That is an incredibly powerful thing to say and I try to
live up to his words in every show I do. I was, of course, the keyboard player in Maiden back in
1977, so for Steve to have said those words about my guitar playing shows how much I have come
on over the years !
13 What does the near future hold for Tony Moore that you have in the pipeline?
AWAKE is still not very well know around the world, so I am on a mission to tour, release more
singles and do my best to bring AWAKE to as many people as I can.
14 Will we have him soon in South America and in Argentina, is there a lot of people waiting for him
in this part of the world?
I was very honoured to play El Teatrito with British Lion last year and had the best gig of the tour.
Argentine audiences are incredible and it was a memorable night for me. I love Argentina, my ex
girlfriend is from Bs. As and I learnt to speak Spanish in Argentina. I came many times in the 1990’s
and often went camping in Villa Gesell. I can’t wait to come back and play again. –
